Description
LG Antigua winter oilseed rape has a comprehensive agronomic traits package. It combines TuYV, pod shatter resistance and good disease resistance, with excellent plant vigour characteristics, in both the autumn and spring.
The variety is medium to flower offering protection from late frosts and has an earlier maturity, allowing a longer window to help secure maximum yield. LG Antigua is a taller variety and has excellent resistance to lodging (rated 7) and is rated a strong 8 for its stem stiffness. The variety shows excellent winter hardiness.
LG Antigua offers a strong 7 for resistance to Stem Canker (RLM7) and a good 6 rating for Light Leaf Spot.
LG Antigua is resistant to Turnips Yellows Virus (TuYV); a trait of recognised commercial value to growers in helping to secure maximum yield potential.
Gene-specific pod shatter resistance is bred into LG hybrids and provides growers with added protection against seed losses both before and during harvest. This can result in higher, more stable yields, as well as reducing volunteer pressure in following crops. Pod shatter resistance is becoming an ever more valuable trait, given recent history of unpredictable weather, where thunderstorms and delayed harvests are becoming increasingly common. Pod shatter resistance also offers protection against significant losses caused by the passage of the combine through standing crop at harvest.
LG Antigua has very good, strong plant vigour in both the Autumn and Spring, offering growers confidence in the varieties’ ability to establish and grow away from potential pest problems associated with WOSR establishment presently in the UK.
